Concrete pigmentation

Concrete pigmentation

The concrete pigmentation gives your surface an impressive effect. The extensive NCS and Ral color palettes are available to you. The concrete pigmentation bonds firmly with the mineral substrate and is the alternative to colored exposed concrete.

Concrete pigmentation explained clearly

Concrete pigmentation changes or harmonizes the color effect of concrete surfaces. It is suitable for exposed concrete that needs to be matched in color, calmed down or emphasized in terms of design.

Who is this service suitable for?

Suitable for architects, builders and administrations if the color of concrete surfaces does not match the plan or appears inconsistent after repairs.

Your benefits

  • Harmonize color toneCloudiness, connections and repair zones can be calmed down in a targeted manner.
  • Preserve material effectThe pigmentation is tailored to the transparency and concrete character.
  • Consider lighting effectPatterns are assessed under the real lighting conditions on the object.

Typical challenges and solutions

The color does not match the desired exposed concrete quality

Raw material, formwork, humidity and construction process lead to color differences.

BKOS doses pigments and tests the color tone, opacity and character of the concrete using samples.

The surface appears more uniform without looking completely coated.

Repair areas stand out in color

Fillers and different batches of concrete react differently to light and moisture.

Transitions are pigmented and adjusted in several controlled steps.

Repair areas fit more quietly into the overall area.

Applications

  • Exposed concrete walls
  • Repair and connection areas
  • Architectural concrete surfaces with defined color goals

Our approach

  1. Assess the surfaceBKOS checks the type of concrete, suction behavior, damage pattern, contamination and structural conditions directly on the property.
  2. Establish patterns and proceduresDepending on the surface, sampling, choice of material, color, protection system and work sequence are defined.
  3. Implement execution in a controlled mannerThe work is carried out in sections with ongoing monitoring of appearance, adhesion, drying and connection areas.
  4. Acceptance and care instructionsAfter execution, the result, limits and sensible care or protective measures are documented.

Quality and limitations

Pigmentation requires realistic patterns and light assessment on the object. The aim is to achieve a controlled concrete effect, not to mask every material property.

What determines the quotation?

  • Color deviation and desired target tone
  • Suction behavior and condition of the substrate
  • Area size and number of connections
  • Sampling and required protection

Available throughout Switzerland

BKOS works throughout Switzerland for private, commercial and public construction projects. The deployment planning depends on the object, surface, access and appointment window.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about this service

What is the difference between concrete pigmentation and a coat of paint?

Pigmentation is created in such a way that the material effect of the concrete is retained as much as possible. An opaque coat of paint, on the other hand, forms a much more closed layer of paint and changes the character of the concrete more.

Can the existing concrete color be matched exactly?

The color tone can be matched very closely using samples. Absolute equality cannot be reliably guaranteed due to absorbency, moisture, light, pore structure and aging.

How permanent is concrete pigmentation?

The durability depends on the substrate, product, weathering, mechanical stress and care. The system must be planned differently outdoors than on protected indoor surfaces.

Can older concrete surfaces also be pigmented?

Yes, if the surface is stable and free of unsuitable coatings, dirt and release agents. Often, coordinated cleaning or local renovation is required first.

Can only individual repair areas be pigmented?

Local adjustments are possible, but must be coordinated with the surrounding area. Depending on the contrast and light, a larger transition area can lead to a quieter result.
