Anti-graffiti protection

Anti-graffiti protection

Cleaning graffiti on unprotected exposed concrete and natural stone can leave traces, shadows or paint residues as the spray paints can penetrate the pores of the surface. To prevent this, preventative graffiti protection is recommended. Different protection systems are available for this purpose.

Free cleaning

With most graffiti protection systems, we clean graffiti on protected areas for four years without generating any additional costs.

At a glance

Anti-graffiti protection explained clearly

Graffiti protection reduces the penetration of paint into mineral surfaces and makes cleaning easier. It is useful for exposed concrete, stone and facade surfaces.

Who is this service suitable for?

Relevant for municipalities, administrations, transport companies, property owners and operators of publicly accessible buildings.

Your benefits

  • Simplify cleaningSpray paint penetrates less deeply into open mineral pores.
  • Protect the surfaceRepeated aggressive cleaning can be reduced depending on the system.
  • Plan maintenanceThe protection system and subsequent cleaning strategy are determined together.

Typical challenges and solutions

Recurring graffiti on facades and concrete

Open pores absorb paint, which makes cleaning difficult and surfaces suffer.

BKOS chooses a temporary or permanent protection system to suit the surface, use and cleaning strategy.

Graffiti can be removed in a more controlled manner and the surface remains better protected.

Protection changes the appearance of the facade

Unsuitable systems can visibly change the shine, color or moisture behavior.

BKOS checks the visual effect and compatibility in advance on a sample surface.

The protective effect is coordinated with the design requirements.

Applications

  • Facades and base areas
  • Underpasses and staircases
  • Public buildings and transport buildings

Our approach

  1. Assess the surfaceBKOS checks the type of concrete, suction behavior, damage pattern, contamination and structural conditions directly on the property.
  2. Establish patterns and proceduresDepending on the surface, sampling, choice of material, color, protection system and work sequence are defined.
  3. Implement execution in a controlled mannerThe work is carried out in sections with ongoing monitoring of appearance, adhesion, drying and connection areas.
  4. Acceptance and care instructionsAfter execution, the result, limits and sensible care or protective measures are documented.

Quality and limitations

The protection system must fit the surface and may only change the desired appearance in a controlled manner. Prior cleaning and patterns are crucial.

What determines the quotation?

  • Substrate, porosity and existing coatings
  • Permanent system or victim layer
  • Area size, accessibility and exposure
  • Previous graffiti removal and sampling

Available throughout Switzerland

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about this service

What is the difference between permanent graffiti protection and sacrificial layer?

A sacrificial layer is completely or partially removed when graffiti is removed and then replaced. A permanent system is designed for repeated cleaning, but can have a greater impact on the appearance depending on the surface.

Does graffiti protection change the appearance of exposed concrete?

Depending on the product, the color tone, shine and water repellency can be slightly changed. That's why BKOS samples the protection system on the original surface and assesses it under realistic lighting conditions.

How quickly should graffiti be removed?

Early removal is usually advantageous because the color lasts for a shorter time and imitation effects are reduced. Cleaning agents and procedures must match the protection system and substrate.

For which surfaces is graffiti protection suitable?

Typical substrates are concrete, natural stone, masonry and mineral facades. Absorbency, condition, previous coatings and desired appearance determine the suitable system.

When does graffiti protection have to be renewed?

This depends on the system, weathering, cleaning frequency and mechanical stress. After each graffiti removal, it should be checked whether the protective effect is still fully present.
